The Ladakh Trip
July 8-16th 2026
Journey
On this journey to Ladakh, India we will experience the true Tibetan Buddhist culture and breathtaking landscape of the Ladakhi people. In our eight days traveling together through this incredible region of the world, our objective is to find stillness and a sense of profound presence and connection to the raw high elevation nature, local Buddhist traditions and community, one another, and ourselves.
The state of Ladakh is located in the Northern-most region of India between Pakistan and China, with the region formally known as Tibet in the mountains to the east, and the Pakistani mountains stretching to the west. We will be based in Stok Village, not far from the capital city of Leh, traveling around both Leh and the remote Nubra Valley.
In Stok, will be welcomed like family by the owners of the guest house in which we will be staying, as your guide has spent over a decade immersing herself in this Himalayan mountain community and getting to know this family very well. Here, will be fed delicious momos (Tibetan dumplings), drink butter tea, eat yak cheese in our stampa (local barley porridge), and enjoy many other traditional dishes. We will have individual or shared rooms, a yoga and meditation deck, a kitchen for personal use, and a private garden to relax in.
From Stok Village we will take daily trips into the 6,000 meter mountains that surround it; go to monasteries carved out of cliff-faces for tours and special ceremonies; explore the nearby capital city of Leh; and travel over the highest motorable pass in the world, Khardung La (at 5,380 m, or 17,650 ft) into Nubra Valley. We will also go to hot springs, walk around sacred stupas, visit towering Buddhas, picnic at a high alpine lake, and listen to local music and dances. With so many local friends, the trip will be full of small visits to customary events and private audiences with Lamas and Rinpoches.
Guided by me, Rory, you will be led in morning yoga and meditation practice as well as evening breathwork. I am a Tibetan Buddhist scholar (MA from Columbia University) and advanced certified Jivamukti as well as Ashtanga teacher, with over 13 years of daily practice and 5 years of teaching around the world. These teachings will be offered on the top deck of the guest house as the sun is rising over the Himalayas, giving us the powerful opportunity to center in our bodies before going out for the day. I will also lead meditations in my methodology called The Yoga Tantras, assisted by local monk friends during various parts of the day or in the evenings.
